PREEMERGENCE (PRE)

Herbicide applied after seeding but prior to crop emergence from the soil. In horticulture crops (annual and perennial) preemergence herbicides are also known as soil-applied herbicides because they may be applied prior to crop emergence, shortly after emergence or transplanting and after planting for perennial systems (orchards, vineyards).
